Mrs. Potato Head is ready for a half marathon.
I ran the Monster Dash half marathon yesterday with my husband. This was my third half and his first. As you can see, we dressed as Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. I had some reservations about running in a costume. Would it hinder me from getting a PR? Would there be unnecessary chafing? Would I be too hot? Turns out, it was a non issue. It was in the...

“Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can do what others can’t.”
That pretty much sums up my entire training philosophy. You have the power to be amazing, if you can just get out of your own way.

I have to admit, I haven’t run much since the marathon. My longest run to date was nine miles, and that was yesterday. Normally that wouldn’t be a big deal, but I’m running a half marathon on Saturday. I’m not concerned about completing it, I’m more worried about how sore I’m going to be. There is no doubt that it will hurt.
Saturday will be the one year...

Babies on the Brain
Here is a conversation that I had with a co-worker this morning:
CW: Do you need help pushing that table?
Me: I think I’m alright.
CW: No let me help.
Me: If you want to help, that would be great.
CW: You still have to have babies and I don’t want you hurting those ovaries.
Me: Ummm thanks.
I find it concerning that my first thought was about all the races I would...

Etsy = Crack
I should never ever be allowed to log into Etsy. It’s the place where cute things live. Cute things that I did not know I needed until I logged in. Cute things that I now cannot stop thinking about. Cute things which I may or may not have purchased…
If you have to have this, you can purchase it here.
I didn’t buy this framed W, but it gave me a great fall craft idea....

My Love/Hate Relationship
“Body Image isn’t some static declaration about what you see in the mirror any more than a body is a two-dimensional still representation. Bodies move and do. They work, they lift, run, build, have sex, nurture, toil, and create. Body image, then, should encompass our full relationship with our bodies. Everything we do and accomplish with our bodies should enrich our image of...

I Will Run for Groceries
Today was my rest day, but I decided to run to the grocery store. I only had a few items to pick up, so I grabbed a drawstring backpack and took off. The run there was great. It was nice and cool and my body felt strong.
I picked up my items. Threw them in my backpack and headed towards home. That’s when I realized running with a full bag was more challenging than anticipated. It’s...

A Case of Post-Marathon Body
I woke up this morning with lots of energy and the itching desire to get a decent sized run in. Nothing fancy, maybe 5 or 6 miles. I pulled on my running gear and headed out the door. A half mile in, I knew it wasn’t going to happen. It’s only been five days since the marathon and my body clearly isn’t ready to play yet. I felt heavy, slow and lethargic. I ended up doing 2.44 and...
