Failure
Here is what I’ve learned. Failure is an inevitability. What matters is how many times you are willing to get back up and try again. The ability to learn the lesson, whatever it may be, is important. Hit the refresh button on your motivation and start a new. Failure is only a rest stop on your journey. Make sure you don’t dwell there.

learningtodrive asked: I just read your Tumblr, and I really love it! I started trying to get into running this summer at 210 lbs, and I'm down to 190 here at the end of august. I've been sort of plateuing at this number and wondered if you had any suggestions for what I should do? I've also haven't seemed to have gotten much better with my mile either, I'm sort of stuck at 12 minute miles....

Speedy Work
I am in week 11 of a 16 week marathon training program. As my long run mileage increases so does the duration and pace of my tempo runs and speedwork. I absolutely loathe both. Intellectually I understand why I need to incorporate these runs into my training. Physically I see the results. They allow me to run faster and longer. Mentally I struggle with them each week. They force me out of my...

ohmuffinsruns asked: I'm going to gush for a second: your tumblr has made me cry. [A good cry! I promise.] I started my journey at 250 pounds and I'm down 90 pounds since last year. My journey has centered around running [I'm a teacher who jumped on board with a running club with my students!] I've eaten much better and made the gym a habit -- everything I've done has been done in the...

Focus
Tomorrow is always a new day to make a better, healthier choice. This is my personal mantra. I’m finding it very fitting this week. I’ve been feeling a little out of sorts. I need to lace up the shoes, turn up the tunes, and feel the pavement beneath my feet. If that can’t get me back on track I don’t what can.

Doing the Du
I am eight weeks deep into my marathon training, however I have a duathlon in three weeks. The duathlon has not been high on my priority list. I have been riding my bike mostly because it has cured my hip pain. It also provides a less boring alternative to cross training on the elliptical. I am actually doing the Du as part of a team. I will run a 5K, my dad will bike 18 miles and then I will run...
