Ran 7.0 miles in 1:13:30. Average pace 10:30. Calories burned 883. We had a big snow storm today, so sidewalk/trail running wasn’t an option. So dreadmill it was. Other than sweating like a pig (seriously how warm do they need to keep the gym!) it went well. Now I’m going to stretch, foam roll, shower, nosh, and introduce my ass to the couch. On a related note, I love that...

It is important to set goals that are SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time bound. Goals that are too vague often lead to inconsistency, lack of focus and ultimately, failure. “You’ve got to be very careful if you don’t know where you are going, because you might not get there.” — Yogi Berra

11 miles in the books today. I ran part of the half marathon course with my training partner. We ran the worst part with all the hills. There is an elevation gain of 385 feet along this portion of the river. I had to walk a bit on the return trip. I may have the most sensitive tummy on the planet. No joke. I have gambled and lost far too many times friends to chance it anymore. Better safe than...

I’ve been a little absent lately and for that I apologize. I just needed a few days to take some deep breaths and work through some solutions. I have been making less than stellar choices as of late, especially when it comes to eating. Due to some stress in my personal life, I have fallen back on some very old, very poor habits. I lost sight of the importance of what I have done. I forgot...

I am going to invent a new term. We all know what getting “chicked” means. Tonight I got “geezered”. Multiple times. We’re talking shirtless men in the 65+ zone, running in career packs, knocking out sub 7 minute miles! Say what? I’m not even in that club at my age. I managed to run 4.0 miles 40:25. Average pace 10:06. It doesn’t compare to the geezers...

Ran 3 miles at Lake of the Isles today. That’s downtown Minneapolis in the background. It was almost perfect running weather. 42 degrees and mostly sunny. I wasn’t a big fan of the 16 mph winds, but overall, it was a decent little run. I saw someone walking their whippet. Which of course made me think of this: Do do do do do. Crack that whip… Which of course made me...

Ragnar Relay Great River →
I’m forming a team for the Ragnar Relay in Minneapolis. It takes place on August 17-18. The race is 200 miles long. It starts in Winona and ends in Minneapolis. Teams consist of 12 people who each run 3 legs of the race. You need to be able to run a minimum of 5 miles. Check out the link above. If you are in the area and interested message me. I still have 6 spots available. This is...

Did a quick little run today around the block. It was 36 and sunny, with barely any wind. I felt really good, but didn’t want to do much because of my long run tomorrow. 2.01 miles in 20:23. Average pace 10:07. Had dinner with the husband at a Greek restaurant. Dessert was a date with the bike. 10.0 miles in 34:23. Average speed 17.5 mph. Next up Fab Ab Feb: 60 sit-ups, 15...

Just found a few things that I posted making the rounds on Pinterest. That would be great if another tumblr wasn’t taking credit for them. Grrrr! My blog is newer and still growing, so having my stuff taken without giving credit stings a bit.

I went to the grocery store today and stocked up on lot’s of essentials that I was running low on. I decided to make Roasted Smashed Potatoes for dinner. I prepped all my veggies for the week. Green peppers, carrots, celery, mushrooms, and cauliflower. If I don’t do this immediately, I forget what I bought and things go bad. I also washed and repackaged the fruit I bought. I...

Anonymous asked: Hey Hey :) I just discovered your blog a while ago and I'm impressed by what you achieved so far. So I wanted to ask you for some advice. I just started to run more frequently and I can run about 40min in a slow pace. Right now I'm in China and I discovered an awesome thing. The Great Wall marathon. Of course I can't do the whole marathon, so I thought about joining the 5km or 10km....

Did a 10 mile training run today with my girlie Melinda. She is training for her first half marathon in March. I have been accompanying her on her longer runs once a week. In the beginning I really thought these runs would be all about getting her to her goal, but I am realizing how great running with someone else can be. Running without music and talking to another person really gets me out...

Went to Skyrobics for the second time tonight. It was like an evil little boot camp session on an enormous trampoline. I was sweating buckets! It’s such a fun way to cross train. I bought a ten class pass, so I will be back! I did some spinning on the bike when I got home to work out the buildup from my longer runs this week. I’ve been having some pain in my ITB on the right side. I...
