I’ve been feeling a little blah the last few days. I did two overnights at work which completely threw my body off. I’ve been walking around like a zombie, not doing much of anything. But all that ends today.
Tomorrow I will run ALL the miles!

Long Azz Bike Ride (for me)
rookcanrun:
Today is W3D1 of my marathon training plan, cross training day. I went out for an intended 40 mile ride that turned into 50. A long ride for me, in fact the furthest I’ve ever gone on a bike. I had a lot of time for thinking so this could get long…
tl;dr long ass bike ride and fuck cancer.

Anonymous asked: Congrats on your pregnancy! Were you really worried during your first trimester? I just found out that I'm pregnant. Even though I'm healthy and young, I am so worried about making it through the first trimester without any complications. Every ache and pain scares me and has me running to Google, which is only proving to be a bad idea.

Chicago Marathon: Week 8, Day 6
Today I ran 1 mile. One single, solitary, lonely little mile. It got me thinking. When was the last time I only ran 1 mile? I would guess that other than when injured, it’s been years. I haven’t forgotten how exciting it was to be able to run 1 mile for the first time. But, after almost 3 years of training for something, 1 mile feels like such a failure. I know I should be thankful...

Froyo? What the heck is froyo?
Froyo = Frozen Yogurt. Pick your flavor then top with a multitude of delicious toppings of the fruit and candy variety.

If you haven’t heard yet, we’re meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 6:30 at the Lake Harriet Bandshell.
Running will be accomplished. Froyo will be consumed. It sounds like we’re going to have a good sized group. I hope to see you there!!!!

Chicago Marathon: Week 7, Day 7
I didn’t get my butt out the door early enough this morning to avoid the intense heat, so dreadmill in the afternoon it was. Sometimes going to the gym really grates on my nerves. Here are my top gym pet peeves:
1) People who walk up to the door, scan their membership card and then leave without working out. In this state certain health insurance providers will pay for a good portion of...

Chicago Marathon: Week 7, Day 6
I started my long run outside at 6am this morning. After about 5 miles I started to see lightning and it began to rain. Luckily, I only live about 2 blocks from my gym, so I ran the next 5 miles on the treadmill while the storm passed. I finished the last 4 outdoors. I had to switch my Garmin from GPS to foot pod to GPS, so rather than post 3 different screen shots, here are my splits:

Here are some words of wisdom from my Team in Training coach. I thought everyone who is currently marathon training could benefit from them.
The middle is tough. We have a long way to go and a lot of miles to put in. It doesn’t feel like we’re “almost there” yet. My suggestion at this time is to keep your focus on the end result. Each workout takes you one step closer to...

Life Time Fitness Torchlight 5k
After much texting of what we were wearing and where we were standing: I managed to meet up with Jason, Katie, and Erin before last nights 5k. We stood around and chatted for about 45 minutes before the race. The course was packed. It was hard to stay together in the beginning. I had to keep looking around to find everyone. We stayed in a group for about the first half mile. Then I realized it...

Chicago Marathon: Week 6, Day 7
It was ridiculously hot this morning, so I made the decision to do my long run on the dreadmill. I’m glad I did. I struggled mentally with every single mile, but I kept going. As the miles ticked past, I felt better, stronger. I ran negative splits without trying and ended my workout feeling like a complete BAMF. It’s been awhile since I could say...

Chicago Marathon: Week 6, Day 5
I ran 5.04 miles in 55:55. Average pace 11:05.
I’ve had a lot of bad juju floating around in my head lately. So tonight, I ran in the rain, alone, without music. And I didn’t think about anything. I just ran and listened to the sounds of my footfalls on the pavement, and the rain dripping on my hat. I concentrated on my breathing and counted squares in...

Chicago Marathon:Week 5, Day 6
I ran outside for the first time in at least a week. It’s funny that 82 degrees can feel downright balmy after temps in the 100’s. I was so happy to be outside, that I just ran and didn’t look at my Garmin until I was done. 4.0 in 36:06. Average pace 9:01. Oopsie! I should not be running that fast. Oh well. It felt good so I’m gonna roll with...

My husband works at 8:30 pm tonight. I work at 4:30 am tomorrow. So no fireworks for us, maybe for the first time ever.
Sometimes being a working adult makes me indescribably sad.
