A Pain in the Butt →
I started feeling a sharp pain in my left buttock after my long run on Saturday. Rather than hurting less, the pain has intensified over the past few days. I started googling my symptoms, and came across this great article from Running Times. I’m pretty sure I have piriformis syndrome. I’ve been told by a running specialist that I have weakness/tightness in my hips which can cause piriformis...

Chicago Marathon: Week 12??, Day 2
I can’t even keep track of what week I’m in training wise anymore. I think it’s 12 but who knows. I did my first post Ragnar run this morning. I’m not sore anymore, so it didn’t hurt, but I’m unbelievably tight. My legs felt like lead weights the entire run. I was originally intending to run 5 miles, but it was proving to be such an effort, that I decided to...

Ragnar
Umm yeah, so I’m doing this little race called the Ragnar Relay tomorrow. 12 people, 2 vans, 200 miles, you know the drill. Van #1 leaves in exactly 12 hours to make it to the starting line by 8am. I still have 2 team members that have not paid the fee for van rental, team shirts, food etc. Which means I have to now cover the cost of 4 people since my husband is running too. It’s...

Do you know what ranks at about #4 on my top 10 list of most hated things? A long run on a workday, when I don’t have the next day off either. Guess what I’m doing later…

Did a quick little 2 mile run around the block tonight. The sun was setting and there was a light breeze blowing. I actually felt a little cold for the first quarter mile. Tonight for the first time in awhile, I enjoyed the run. Just the pure synergy of working muscles, pumping heart, burning lungs. It hasn’t always been easy. It hasn’t always been fun, but running has brought me some of...

Chicago Marathon: Week 10, Day 4
Ran Lake Calhoun this morning with the lovely Ms. Jordan. Conversation was had, feelings were felt. Not our fastest run, but certainly very needed by both parties involved. 3.54 miles in 40:38. Average pace 11:29.

Chicago Marathon: Week 10, Day 2
I pushed the pace a bit today and felt like a boss. It’s funny that running a full minute slower than my 10k time can now feel boss-like, but it is what it is I guess. I then went to the doctor (after a shower) and felt like a beast. Not the good kind. The holy crap I’ve already gained how much weight kind? I knew this was going to happen. I’ve never had a problem gaining...

Chicago Marathon: Week 10, Day 1
I did my own mini duathlon today. 6 miles pounding the pavement. 15 miles spinning my wheels. I can’t believe we are only 2 months away from Chicago!

Caution Pity Party Ahead
“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.” ― Dr. Seuss It takes a lot to get me down. I am someone who can handle a large amount of stress before it gets to me. Lately it feels a little like I can’t catch a break. One thing after another keeps piling on my shoulders and it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to function normally. I should be running to...
