Chicago Marathon: Week 4 Day 5
Technically this is my first run this week. I was busier than anticipated and my motivation was lacking somewhat, so I didn’t pre-plan when I was going to run very well. No worries though. I have determined how I am going to get in all 4 scheduled runs for this week without sacrificing any mileage.
This morning I did 6. I will run another 4 tonight. I will complete my 3.5 mile tempo run tomorrow after work, and move my 8 mile long run to Sunday morning.

I have been told that I need to keep my heart rate under 140. Originally I thought, that would be NBD. I can run a 9-9:30 mile without even breathing hard. Turns out your heart rate is a little trickier. So I will need to keep my pace closer to an 11:30. It’s a little frustrating. Physically I feel good and want to run faster, but I know the damage it can cause. So for now I will plod along. Hopefully at some point, this pace will feel natural again instead of painfully slow.
Next task on the to-do-list: buy a HRM strap that pairs with my Garmin.
